The Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs are historic rivals so they don’t have an interest in helping each other out.
However, the draft could open up some interesting possibilities.
The Chiefs don’t pick until No. 31 in the first round and the Raiders aren’t far away in the second at No. 37. The former has a big need at offensive tackle while the latter has a big need at wide receiver.
In Field Yates’ latest mock draft for ESPN, there isn’t an offensive tackle worth taking at No. 31 and No. 37 might be too late to add an impact wide receiver.
That’s why he projected that the two rivals will swap picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. “Let’s keep the trades rolling.
And yes, it’s another one between two teams in the same division,” Yates wrote. “With New England jumping to No. 30 to take Conerly, the Chiefs might look at the OT board and think they could get someone early on Day 2 and improve one of their later-round picks.
The depth of this class aligns nicely with their biggest needs. And the Raiders might see a fit on offense that they can’t let slip away.
Full terms of the trade would include the Chiefs sending No. 31 and a late third-rounder (No. 95) to the Raiders for a second-rounder (No. 37) and an early third-rounder (No. 68).”
In this scenario, the Raiders use the No. 31 pick to draft Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III and the Chiefs use the No. 37 pick on Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons.
It’s hard to imagine the two teams would be eager to trade with each other but this deal could be beneficial for both sides.
