The NFL’s trade deadline came and went at 3 p.m. Arrowhead Time on Tuesday — and the Kansas City Chiefs opted not to make a deadline-day move.
The Chiefs had been tied to now-former New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore, but the price proved too rich for Kansas City. The Washington Commanders parted with third-round, fourth-round and sixth-round picks in exchange for Lattimore (and a fifth-rounder) in return.
The Chiefs’ moves came in the two weeks leading up to the deadline.
Two weeks ago, Kansas City traded a Day 3 pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The move is already yielding results, as evidenced by Hopkins’ standout performance of eight catches for 86 yards (and two touchdowns) in the team’s “Monday Night Football” victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Last Monday, the Chiefs parted with a 2026 sixth-round pick for defensive end Josh Uche, who managed two tackles on just nine snaps against the Bucs.
Deals around the AFC
There were several moves of note around the AFC as teams around the conference push to compete with Kansas City:
- The Baltimore Ravens acquired cornerback Tre’Davious White from the Los Angeles Rams.
- The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired wide receiver Mike Williams (New York Jets) and linebacker Preston Smith (Green Bay Packers).
- The Cincinnati Bengals acquired running back Khalil Herbert from the Chicago Bears, with running back Zack Moss heading to the Reserve/Injured List.
