David Ornstein: Newcastle United will sell Alexander Isak to Arsenal only on one condition

David Ornstein reports that Newcastle United will agree to sell Alexander Isak to Arsenal, but only under a specific condition.

According to David Ornstein, Newcastle United is willing to transfer Alexander Isak to Arsenal, provided a certain condition is met.

David Ornstein: Newcastle United’s Sale of Alexander Isak to Arsenal or Liverpool Depends on One Factor

David Ornstein has outlined the sole condition under which Newcastle United might consider selling Alexander Isak to Arsenal or Liverpool this summer.

Newcastle has made it clear that they do not wish to part ways with Isak, with both chief executive Darren Eales and head coach Eddie Howe expressing their commitment to retaining the 25-year-old forward.

Behind the scenes, Newcastle chairman and Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan has instructed the club’s leadership to dismiss any offers for the striker during this transfer window.

Isak has attracted significant interest from clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal, and Barcelona this season, a situation that has been amplified by his impressive performances.

The Swedish international has netted 23 goals for Newcastle this season, including the decisive goal in their 2-1 Carabao Cup final triumph over Liverpool at Wembley earlier this month.

Current Contract Status of Alexander Isak at Newcastle United.

Isak is under contract with Newcastle until 2028 and does not have a release clause in his agreement.

The club is reportedly gearing up for contract discussions with the striker after the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, once it is determined which European competition they will participate in next year.

Having already secured a spot in the Conference League by winning the Carabao Cup, Newcastle is now focused on qualifying for the Champions League again.

When questioned about his future, Isak remarked, “I’m not really thinking about the summer.

But yeah, that [contract] will probably be a talking point once the season’s finished. We’ll really see, but no talks have been held yet.”

The only scenario in which Newcastle United would consider selling Alexander Isak this summer.

Newcastle United’s Position on Selling Alexander Isak This Summer

Newcastle remains resolute in its decision regarding Isak, yet in football, circumstances can change unexpectedly.

There have been rumors of possible swap deals involving Isak and players like Darwin Nunez or Jarell Quansah between Liverpool and Newcastle, but transfer expert Ornstein has dismissed these claims.

“I’m not aware of Newcastle being interested in any part-exchange deals,” he stated in The Athletic.

“This could be a strategy employed by other clubs to entice Newcastle into letting go of a player like Isak, but I doubt it would resonate with the management at St James’ Park.”

While offers for Isak are anticipated this summer, Ornstein asserts that it would require an ‘astronomical’ bid for Newcastle to even contemplate a sale.

The club reportedly values Isak at approximately £150 million, and Newcastle’s chief executive, Darren Eales, has previously acknowledged that every player has a price in the current market.

“Regarding Isak, Newcastle has no intention of selling — he will have three years remaining on his contract by summer, and it’s important to remember the significant investment made in him (both in transfer fees and salary), so it would take an extraordinary offer to convince them to part with him,” Ornstein elaborated.

“History shows that every player has a price, and if a club presents an offer that meets or exceeds market value, Newcastle might reconsider.

“We know Isak has interest from clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool, but I’m not aware of any direct negotiations or discussions at this time.

This situation may evolve, but Newcastle is not under any unusual pressure to sell, and there have been no indications that the player is seeking a move.”

Regrettably for Newcastle supporters, who understandably dislike this ongoing discussion, I expect it to be a significant topic of conversation as we approach the next transfer window.

Isak is a primary target for multiple clubs; however, this does not necessarily imply that he will not be part of Newcastle’s squad next season, particularly if they secure a spot in the Champions League.
