Federico Chiesa hasn’t had the smoothest season at Liverpool, but his father, Enrico Chiesa, insists the forward is happy at the club and determined to prove his worth.
The 27-year-old delivered a standout moment by scoring the decisive goal in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup final win at Wembley, but highlights have been few and far between in what has been a challenging campaign. With nine league games left, Chiesa’s role could still evolve, though rumors of a potential summer exit are already circulating.
Speaking to Tuttosport, Enrico Chiesa emphasized his son’s commitment to Liverpool: “Federico is very happy at Liverpool. He’s at a top club leading the Premier League, and we hope he can win the title! He’s there to make an impact and has a great opportunity.”
Despite being one of Europe’s most promising attackers during Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph, Chiesa has struggled for minutes at Liverpool. He has yet to start a Premier League match and has only made two starts across 11 appearances this season, a situation that could easily cause frustration for a player of his caliber.
However, Enrico Chiesa believes his son’s mindset remains steadfast. “I’ve been telling him the same thing since he was a kid. Until he was 15, he didn’t play much. When he’d ask for advice, I’d tell him: keep training, don’t give up, and always be ready for your chance.”
While a summer transfer remains a possibility, Chiesa Sr. insists there are no regrets about leaving Juventus. During the recent international break, Federico was the only senior outfield Liverpool player not called up for national duty, allowing him to return to Italy, reset, and focus on breaking into Liverpool’s starting lineup.
