Trade Breaking: Dodgers-White Sox Trade Proposal Sends Star Centerfielder Out West for Fresh Start

It feels inevitable that the Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to make upgrades to their team at this season’s trade deadline.

A player that will certainly be on the market is Chicago White Sox centerfielder Luis Robert.

Robert was on the trade block last season but was ultimately not moved.

This season, though, that is almost certain to change, with Chicago expected to be the worst team in baseball again.

A trade for a player with star power and potential like Robert would bring in quite a haul. Here’s what a potential deal between the two teams could look like.

Dodgers receive: OF Luis Robert White Sox receive: OF James Outman, OF Josue De Paula (LA No. 3 prospect), RHP River Ryan (LA No. 10 prospect), RHP Ben Casparius (LA No. 14 prospect) and 1B/3B Logan Wagner (LA No. 26 prospect) Robert gets a fresh start out west and the White Sox get to load up their already stacked farm system.

Outman, Ryan and Casparius are going to see limited action for the Dodgers so much like the Miguel Vargas-Michael Kopech trade in 2024, a deal to Chicago would open the door for every day playing time for those three.

Including 2025, Robert has three seasons left on his contract (club options in 2026 and 2027) so there would be no rush for the Dodgers to extend him, as his base salary of $15 million this season and $20 million each of the next two seasons is extremely cheap and would allow flexibility for Los Angeles to spend money elsewhere.

A move to Los Angeles will continue to feel like a real possibility until another team can swoop in and outbid the Dodgers at the trade deadline.
