One of the scariest moments of the night for Chiefs fans came early in the fourth quarter, when superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes went down with an ankle injury after tying the game up.

After being helped off the field and spending time in the medical tent, Mahomes was cleared and came right back into the game on Kansas City’s following drive.

Mahomes finished the night with 291 passing yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions for one of his best performances of 2024.

When speaking to media on Wednesday, Mahomes gave an update on his ankle, as well as what he did to recover following the game. “It’s doing good,” Mahomes said. ”

Obviously, when you have a little bit of a roll it’s a little bit sore, but I’m able to move around, and I look forward to getting out at practice and seeing how I can push it as the week goes on…

You can only do so much.

Obviously, it was pretty late, but getting some stuff in the training room after the game and getting some stuff to take home, you throw it on there, stuff you can do overnight that you put on there to reduce swelling and stuff like that.”

Biggest Winners and Losers of the NFL Trade Deadline When asked about the practice plan for Mahomes going forward, coach Andy Reid was very confident in his answer.

“No, [he] won’t have to back off,” Reid said. “He manages it, he stays on top of all that.”
