The Tennessee Titans’ new general manager, Mike Borgonzi, spent the last 16 seasons as an executive for the Kansas City Chiefs. That means that he has seen what a successful NFL franchise looks like up close and he is acting accordingly with his new team this offseason.
Borgonzi has brought in several new faces to Tennessee since the beginning of the free agency period, but he has also reunited with several players that he crossed paths with during his tenure with the Chiefs. On Monday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the team was signing linebacker Curtis Jacobs, who originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent last season.
While Jacobs did not make the Chiefs’ final roster last year, he spent the entire offseason with the franchise. He ended up being claimed by the New England Patriots, which was his home for the entirety of the 2024 regular season.
He played in nine games for the Patriots, including two starts, and recorded four total tackles while only playing 23 defensive snaps. Jacobs is a big contributor on special teams, however, as he played 136 snaps in 2024.
Tennessee needed another linebacker after the departures of Jack Gibbens and Kenneth Murray, but it will be an uphill battle for Jacobs to earn playing time alongside Cody Barton and a slew of other talented players. However, this was a low-risk signing for Borgonzi and the Titans, so they gave the Penn State product another chance.
