Liverpool is preparing for a significant summer overhaul, and Darwin Nunez has now emerged as the latest player linked with a potential exit from Anfield.
With key players like Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk approaching the end of their contracts, the club is already bracing for a major transition. Adding to the upheaval, reports suggest that Nunez has been placed on the transfer list, with incoming manager Arne Slot reportedly unconvinced by the Uruguayan striker.
Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 for a club-record fee of €85 million, has struggled to meet expectations. As a result, the Reds are reportedly open to letting him leave. According to TodoFichajes, the striker is expected to depart at the end of the season, with Atlético Madrid identified as his most likely destination. The Spanish side is rumored to be preparing a €65 million bid to secure his signature.
Although Nunez remains under contract with Liverpool until 2028, his inconsistency in front of goal has made his position at the club uncertain. With only seven goals in all competitions this season, he has failed to deliver the impact Liverpool had anticipated when they signed him. If a suitable offer is made, his departure appears increasingly likely.
Speaking about his situation, Nunez recently told El Pais: “I’m happy focusing on the national team and enjoying every moment. I’m not someone who gives up just because I’m not playing regularly. I know I haven’t been at my best, but I’m determined to keep working hard and improving.”
As Liverpool prepares for what looks to be a busy summer, significant changes are expected at the club, with Nunez potentially among the first players to leave.
