Ravens’ Hopkins Sends Message to Reid, Chiefs

Why do we care so much about Andy Reid's clock management?

After a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins stripped off his Chiefs gear for the last time and readied himself for free agency.

He was traded by the Tennessee Titans to the Chiefs during the 2024 season due to the amount of injuries the Chiefs had at the wide receiver position. He failed to really accomplish anything in Kansas City as he was sparingly targeted.

Hopkins is now playing for the Baltimore Ravens and is paired with his buddies quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry.

According to The Sun, Hopkins does not hold any grudges toward Chiefs coach Andy Reid or quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He is just disappointed he was not used more often.

“I have definitely been in situations the past couple of years,” he told reporters last week. “I have only gotten a couple of targets, so for me, it has never really bothered me.”

Hopkins said he acknowledges the sport of football is a big business and you can’t always get what you want.

“I embrace it. You got to realize and understand that this is a business and that’s how it goes,” Hopkins said.

Despite being used for less than 50 percent of the Chiefs’ offensive plays, Hopkins is looking forward to a new start in Baltimore and hooking up with Jackson so that the latter can win his first Super Bowl title.

“I think Lamar being the leader of this team is part of the reason that I came here,” he added. “What he stands for and how he led this team and this organization to the playoffs in multiple years. And since he has been here just how he has led any receiver group he has had. I think that played a big part in me coming here for sure.”
