The Chiefs Radio Network lost executive producer Don Israel, 60, who passed away from colon cancer.

Israel has been battling the disease for the past decade and finally succumbed to it this past week.

He has been a member of the organization for more than 30 years and owner Clark Hunt released a statement commenting on Israel’s passing.

“My family and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Dan Israel. Dan was an integral part of our organization for 35 seasons, and his work as executive producer of the Chiefs Radio Network helped bring the game to life for millions of listeners across Chiefs Kingdom,” Hunt said, via the Chiefs’ official website. “Dan was dedicated, he was kind, and he brought joy into our building each day. Through his battle with cancer over the past ten years, these qualities served as an inspiration to his coworkers and Chiefs fans alike. We will certainly miss him, and we will keep his family in our prayers.”

Fellow radio station managers and listeners are also sending in their prayers via social media.

“We’re heartbroken over the passing of Dan Israel—an NFL broadcasting legend & Hall of Fame producer. More importantly, a friend and a colleague. His impact on the Chiefs Radio Network is synonymous with the Chiefs Kingdom. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones,” 96.5 The Fan in Kansas City tweeted.

“Absolutely heartbroken to learn of the passing of Dan Israel. He’s been part of the Chiefs Radio Network since 1989, so many of us don’t remember Kansas City games on radio without him. No one took more joy from their work than Dan. Prayers for his family and friends,” another tweet read.

“Our leader. Gone too soon. Thank you Dan for everything,” another tweet read.
