Chiefs-Ravens predicted to swing trade that brings Joe Thuney replacement to KC

Chiefs-Ravens predicted to swing trade that brings Joe Thuney replacement to KC image

The Kansas City Chiefs have lost some key players this offseason, including Joe Thuney. They could look to land his replacement through the NFL Draft.

The Chiefs hold the No.31 pick in the draft following their humiliating Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Their offensive line was dismantled by the Eagles’ four-man rush. If the Chiefs want to find a starting lineman in the draft, they may have to swing a trade. NFL.com’s Chad Reuter predicted the Chiefs would swing this trade with the Baltimore Ravens to move up and draft the University of Alabama’s Tyler Booker:

  • Chiefs receive: 2025 first-round pick and 2025 fourth-round pick
  • Ravens receive: 2025 first-round pick and 2025 third-round pick

“Kansas City is haunted by its inability to stop Philadelphia’s front four in the Super Bowl,” wrote Reuter. “The Chiefs signed 49ers backup tackle Jaylon Moore to a two-year, $30 million free-agent deal, but they keep addressing the OL issue in this exercise. K.C. sends first- and third-round selections to Baltimore for this pick and a fourth-rounder, adding Booker to replace Joe Thuney up front.”

Thuney ended the year playing tackle, but now Moore seems likely to fill that role. Booker would fill the hole left by Thuney on the interior of the Chiefs offensive line. Booker played in 38 games at Alabama and could start on day one for the Chiefs. However, if they do not trade up they could lose him.
