Jesús Vallejo’s Time at Real Madrid Comes to an End as Ancelotti Rules Him Out

Jesús Vallejo’s Time at Real Madrid Comes to an End as Ancelotti Rules Him Out - SPORTGLITZ

Real Madrid center-back Jesús Vallejo has seemingly reached the final stretch of his time at the club, with reports confirming that Carlo Ancelotti has completely ruled him out of the squad for the remainder of the season. Vallejo, who has struggled for game time over the years, has failed to convince the Italian coach and will not feature in any matches for the rest of the campaign.

A Forgotten Figure in Madrid’s Squad

Vallejo’s situation at Real Madrid has been unfortunate. Since joining the club in 2015 from Real Zaragoza, he has never managed to establish himself as a regular in the starting lineup. He has been loaned out multiple times, spending seasons at Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Granada, but he has not been able to secure a place in Madrid’s defensive rotation.

Even as Real Madrid faced injury problems this season, Ancelotti has opted for alternative solutions, showing no faith in Vallejo. The defender, now 28 years old, has been left out of matchday squads entirely, reinforcing the idea that his time at the Santiago Bernabéu is coming to an end.

No Future Under Ancelotti

Reports suggest that Ancelotti has no plans to use Vallejo in any capacity for the remainder of the season, effectively ending his tenure at the club. Even in games where rotations could be expected, Vallejo remains an unused option, indicating that the club is preparing for his exit.

This decision doesn’t come as a surprise, given that Vallejo has failed to establish himself in a competitive Real Madrid squad. With the likes of Éder Militão, Antonio Rüdiger, and David Alaba (before his injury) ahead of him, the Spaniard has been a forgotten figure. Even young defenders like Rafa Marín and Marvel have a better chance of making appearances than Vallejo.

A Summer Departure Is Inevitable

With his contract set to expire in 2025, Real Madrid is expected to part ways with Vallejo this summer. Whether through a permanent sale or a contract termination, the club will look to offload him and free up a squad spot. A return to La Liga or a move to a mid-tier European club seems like the most likely outcome for the defender.

After nearly a decade of failing to break into the first team, Vallejo’s Real Madrid journey is coming to an inevitable conclusion. With Ancelotti making it clear that he is not in his plans, all signs point to his exit at the end of the season.

This season, he can only account for 10 minutes played in that match that almost cost us three points. While he has the ability to play in both central defense positions or even as a right-back, his level has never met the white expectations.

These are some of the reasons why the player doesn’t even have the coach’s confidence and it seems he won’t be able to play minutes for the remainder of the campaign. His contract ties him until the summer of this year, so we are facing the last months of Vallejo as a Madrid footballer.

It’s the Best for Everyone

At 28 years old, he can still steer his career in another team to try to regain his best level. However, at Real Madrid, they see this separation as the best for both him and the institution, which needs top players.
