The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly re-signed Super Bowl winner Charles Omenihu to a 1-year, $7million contract.
Omenihu continues the immediate rebuild in Kansas City after the team lost the Super Bowl last month to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Omenihu will play for his third season with the Chiefs after coming to the team in 2023 from the San Francisco 49ers, per ESPN.
In six NFL seasons, Omenihu has 19.5 sacks, with his career high for one season coming in 2023 with the Chiefs with seven.
Omenihu did not play in the Super Bowl the Chiefs won with him on the roster, as he tore his ACL in the AFC Championship win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Omenihu did play in this season’s league championship, where the Eagles stopped the Chiefs from becoming the first team in the Super Bowl era to win three consecutive titles.
The Chiefs already boast one of the best defensive lineman in the NFL in tackle Chris Jones.
Kansas City also re-signed Nick Bolton earlier this offseason, another key piece in the Chiefs’ hopes of winning another Super Bowl.
Omenihu was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2019 and played in the AFC South for more than two seasons before he was traded to the 49ers.
After Omenihu’s ACL tear in early 2024, he did play in six regular season games, garnering one sack.
Omenihu also played in all of the Chiefs’ 2024 playoff games, also amassing a single sack.
