Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s Cute but Mortifying Party Moment
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco recently shared a hilarious story about attending Taylor Swift’s party way too early. The couple, who are set to release their collaborative album I Said I Love You First on March 21, reflected on their relationship during an episode of Spotify’s Countdown To on March 19.
While driving through Los Angeles in a retro convertible, the duo recounted an awkward but sweet memory from one of their first events together.
First to Arrive, First to Feel Awkward
Blanco, 37, casually asked Gomez, 32, “What was our first party that we ever went to?”
After a moment, Gomez recalled a particularly cringeworthy experience. “I don’t know if this was the first, but it was actually really funny,” she said. “We went to Taylor’s party after an awards show.”
The problem? They were the first ones to arrive.
“I was mortified. Apparently, cool people don’t show up to parties on time,” Gomez admitted.
Blanco Teases Gomez About Her Timely Habits
Blanco couldn’t resist poking fun at the situation. “We’re the first people at every single party when I go with you,” he teased. “You show up when my mother shows up to a party.”
Gomez playfully deflected, saying she thought he was going to bring up the fact that, at that time, no one knew they were dating.
A Longtime Friendship with Taylor Swift
Swift, 35, and Gomez have been close friends for years, originally meeting in 2008 when they were each dating a Jonas brother. (Swift was with Joe Jonas, while Gomez was linked to Nick Jonas.)
When Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco announced their engagement in December 2024, Taylor Swift was quick to show her support.
The pop superstar even joked on Instagram about playing a special role in the wedding, commenting, “Yes I will be the flower girl.” The comment racked up nearly two million likes.
Upcoming Album Release and Recent Music
Before I Said I Love You First officially drops, Gomez and Blanco have already released three singles from the album:
- Scared of Loving You
- Call Me When You Break Up (featuring Gracie Abrams)
- Sunset Blvd, which came with a sultry music video
On March 19, the couple gave fans another surprise, previewing Bluest Flame during an A24 x IMAX screening of Spring Breakers in New York City.
With their album out now, Gomez and Blanco’s love story is taking center stage, not just in their music but also in their everyday moments. Their playful relationship and sweet anecdotes continue to charm fans worldwide.
