On Saturday night, the Boston Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets to win their second consecutive game. In the win, Kristaps Porzingis made his return after eight consecutive missed games, and Payton Pritchard made history by breaking the previous record for most three-pointers in a season off the bench. However, not all went well for Boston.
Star Jaylen Brown suffered back spasms early in the second half against the Nets and only logged six total minutes in the third quarter. He did not play in the fourth quarter at all. The Celtics will take on the Nets once again on Tuesday. However, the Celtics made an unfortunate announcement regarding Brown ahead of the game.
Brown has missed just seven games since the turn of the calendar. However, after Tuesday, he will have missed his eighth such game as the Celtics have officially ruled him out against Brooklyn.
Injury Report for tomorrow vs. Brooklyn:
Jaylen Brown (right knee posterior impingement) – OUT
Jayson Tatum (right knee tendinopathy) – QUESTIONABLE— Boston Celtics (@celtics) March 17, 2025
Interestingly, the Celtics have ruled Brown out with a knee injury despite leaving Saturday’s game early with back spasms. Regardless, this is a tough loss for the Celtics, who are looking to gain as much momentum as they can heading into the playoffs.
With less than a month left in the season, the Celtics are in a good spot. While it is unlikely they will climb up to the No. 1 seed in the East, they are all but locked in as the No. 2 seed. Furthermore, they have already clinched a playoff spot and remain the team to beat in the NBA.
