Heat fall to new low during Erik Spoelstra era after loss to Knicks

Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks: The 10 Greatest Games in This NBA Rivalry

After being pummeled by the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday night, the Miami Heat came out with a sense of urgency and stormed out to a 12-0 lead against the New York Knicks. But anyone who has followed the Heat this season knew what was bound to happen.

In the third quarter, the Miami Heat showed everyone how bad they are as they proceeded to get outscored 41-15 and ultimately ended up losing to the New York Knicks, 116-95, Monday night at Madison Square Garden.

Will this team win a game again?

Seeing this team since the first loss of this eight-game losing streak, is it really crazy to say this team might not win a game the rest of the way?

Okay, maybe that’s a bit too harsh, but this is the same team that lost to the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls who were missing key rotation players. And looking ahead, I would be shocked if this team gets to 35 wins.

At least in the other losses, the Heat managed to build a lead and give some fans false hope into thinking there is something they can build on and correct certain mistakes to prevent meltdowns from happening. But recently, excluding this game, the Heat have not even been good enough to take a commanding lead.

The fact that this game was on national television was honestly stunning. Any team should be getting airtime over the Heat right now. Heck, a 5 on 5 local game at a park or gym would be more entertaining than watching the Heat’s offense.

With each game, the Heat continue to strengthen their argument as to why this one of the worst seasons in franchise history. For one, an Erik Spoelstra led team has never lost more than eight games in a row until now.

Even when the Heat began 11-30 in the 2016-2017 season, they never lost that many consecutive games. To top it off, the Knicks swept their regular season matchup with the Heat, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished since the 1992-1993 season.

It’s not even worth talking about what happened this game, as the most notable moment was Tracy Morgan throwing up courtside, which is what watching the Heat recently has made a lot of people want to do. Get well soon, Tracy!

I will say that it was fitting that the Knicks stormed back with Terry Rozier on the floor. It wasn’t 100 percent his fault, but a lot of runs have occurred with him on the floor, and this just happened to be another instance.

It only gets worse for the Heat, as they face the Detroit Pistons on somehow another nationally televised game. With the Heat continuing to fall apart, there are honestly no games from here on out anyone can confidentially say are winnable.
