Justin Reid Sends 6-Word Message to Chiefs After Leaving in Free Agency

Chiefs' Justin Reid looks to make history in home state of Louisiana - Medill Reports Chicago

The Kansas City Chiefs ended up losing star safety Justin Reid to the New Orleans Saints in NFL free agency. It was a tough loss, as Reid had become a big-time part of the Chiefs’ defense.

Reid received a three-year, $31.5 million deal from the Saints to form a safety duo alongside Tyrann Mathieu.

As New Orleans looks to get back to being a playoff contender, bringing in Reid to help improve its defensive secondary could end up being a major steal.

Despite leaving Kansas City, Reid still has a lot of love for the team. He sent a message to the Chiefs after finalizing his deal with New Orleans.

In a post on X, Reid made it very clear that he has nothing but love for Kansas City even though he decided to leave town. He sent a six-word message to his former team.

“Will always love you Kansas City!” Reid wrote.

During his tenure with the Chiefs, Reid contributed to two Super Bowl wins. Those are runs that he clearly will not forget, as he included the two ring emojis in his post.

In 2024, Reid played in 16 games for Kansas City. He recorded 87 total tackles to go along with two interceptions and nine defended passes.

With his time playing for the Chiefs over, Reid played three seasons in Kansas City. His presence in the secondary will be missed.

Heading to New Orleans is a homecoming for Reid. He was born in Prairieville, Louisiana, and opened up about returning to his home-state team during a press conference.

“Every kid in Louisiana dreams about playing for the Saints,” Reid said.
