It has been a week since Kansas City Chiefs’ rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested in Williamson County, Texas after he was charged with assaulting a family member/ household member by impeding their breath. The victim’s name was kept secret initially but hours later, reports indicated that his fiancee Tia Jones was the one that had been on the receiving end.

However, additional information shed clarity on the situation and absolved Xavier Worthy. It turned out that Tia Jones had been unfaithful to him and when he had asked her to leave his residence, rather than obliging, she began to lash out at him and resorted to pulling his hair and assaulting him.

Williamson County’s District Attorney had confirmed that they do not intend to pursue legal action against Worthy. The wideout and his advocates released a statement blaming Tia Jones for the fiasco and clarified that he too remains disinterested in pursuing legal action against her.

However, Jones has obtained a temporary protective order against her ex-fiancee which has compelled him to begin considering his own options. Worthy’s attorneys Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett released a statement on his behalf declaring his innocence.

Mr. Worthy again DENIES all allegations made in the civil filings yesterday, a desperate attempt after a protective order was not granted to the accuser in the criminal case. Mr. Worthy has been trying to get Ms. Jones to vacate his residence for weeks, so a civil protective order was unnecessary and a media ploy,”

The attorneys said in their statement as reported by Pro Football Talk.

They believe that this is a move to tarnish his reputation and rather than moving out of Worthy’s property, Jones continues to disobey.

Several witnesses have come forward to incriminate Tia Jones

One thing has greatly worked in Worthy’s favor. A third-party witness has come forward and verified his statements.

Mr. Worthy was interviewed by Detectives soon after his arrest about these false allegations. A third-parrty witness was also interviewed by the detectives to verify his statements. Several other witnesses have come forward to provide statements to law-enforcement and to our legal team about Ms. Jones’ disturbing behavior in Kansas City and Austin and we have sworn affidavits, photographs, and videos to refute every false allegation. There have been no prior police calls during their relationship.

The attorneys added

The former Longhorns’ receiver has never been in legal trouble before which benefits him. If the proof they have mentioned turns out to be reliable then Jones will be in trouble.

Some other key gatherings from his attorneys statements are Tia Jones’ reluctance to cooperate with the investigation. Worthy’s attorneys claim that she did not respond to the Detectives for several days after his arrest whereas he has made himself available to them throughout. His attorneys state that her aim is to extort Worthy, which is why she continues to make false allegations and defamatory statements.

To make matters worse, Worthy’s attorneys are alleging that Tia Jones and her associates “Removed” valuable items from his residence after his initial arrest. He did not wish to file charges against her but “remains concerned” regarding the theft and false allegations which she continues to make. In order to address the defamatory statements, Worthy intends to hire a civil attorney.

The NFL is investigating this matter but since the legal system does not intend to file criminal charges against him at this time, he does not have to be worried about a fine or a suspension.
