There has been a lot of movement around the NFL this week. The legal tampering period and new league year opened up, which saw countless players switch teams.

Kansas City was able to retain some guys like Nick Bolton and Marquise Brown. They were also able to sign Jaylon Moore, Elijah Mitchell, and Kristian Fulton.

Despite making some additions to the team, KC also saw multiple contributors head elsewhere. They shipped Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears and saw Justin Reid sign with the New Orleans Saints on a three-year deal that is worth $31.5 million.

Reid then took to social media to express his excitement about joining the Saints.

He tweeted, “Man! So many feeling going through my right now but the biggest feeling of all is EXCITEMENT! So excited to head back to Louisiana and build with #WhoDatNation. Let’s get to work.”

Justin Reid is Excited to Sign With the New Orleans Saints

Although Reid is going to a worse team, he’s still excited to head down to Louisiana. He was born in Prairieville, La., and played his high school ball at Dutchtown. This is a homecoming for him, which is something that can’t be understated.

The 28-year-old spent the past three seasons in KC. In March 2022, Reid signed a three-year, $31.5 million deal with the Chiefs and received that same deal with New Orleans.

Over 49 regular season starts for the Chiefs, Reid compiled 265 total tackles, 12 TFLs, four sacks, 23 pass deflections, and seven interceptions. Meanwhile, in 10 postseason matchups, he had 49 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

In 2024, the 2018 third-round pick notched a 76.9 overall grade (20th among 170 graded safeties) and a 77.4 coverage grade (12th among 170 graded safeties) per PFF.

Reid was a steady playmaker in the backend for KC, but that chapter has closed. He’s looking forward to playing for the Saints in his home state of Louisiana.
