BREAKING: Chiefs’ Andy Reid Reacts To Losing ‘Favorite All-Time Guy’ To Free Agency

The Kansas City Chiefs traded guard Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears, and Andy Reid still loves his now-former player.

The Kansas City Chiefs knew that the offensive line would be a major focus this offseason after the Super Bowl debacle.

That is why it was odd to see star guard Joe Thuney traded to the Chicago Bears. Now, Patrick Mahomes’ offensive line was without two quality starters on the left side.

But that is part of life in the NFL, and with the Chiefs dealing with salary cap issues, the move to trade Thuney was sensible in that aspect.

Speaking on The Bettor Angle podcast, head coach Andy Reid expressed his joy for what Thuney was able to do in Kansas City.

“He’s one of my favorite all-time guys that I’ve coached,” Reid said. “You know that human part of it. You’re around him, and he’s just a good dude. I mean, just all-around a good dude. Tough, dirty, dirty tough. He’s going to do Chicago a heck of a job. I mean, he still can play.”

Thuney now takes his talents to Chicago to protect Caleb Williams, who was the most sacked quarterback in football last season, but it now leaves Kansas City with a hole in the offensive line.

Former San Francisco 49ers backup Jaylon Moore has come in on a two-year deal and is expected to start at left tackle, and as far as left guard, Kingsley Suamataia is expected to get the first crack at the position after underwhelming at left tackle last season.

The Chiefs still have a host of issues to solve this offseason, and we aren’t sure that the offensive line, as it stands right now, will look the same when Week 1 rolls around.
