The offseason has turned up a notch once the legal tampering period opened on Monday.

The Kansas City Chiefs made a couple of moves that included re-signing Hollywood Brown and linebacker Nick Bolton.

They ventured out as well, inking CB Kristian Fulton and OT Jaylen Moore to multi-year deals.

The Chiefs didn’t stop adding to the roster, and on Tuesday, they brought back TE Robert Tonyan, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

This will be Tonyan’s second stint with the ballclub.

Last season, he signed with the Chiefs practice squad in December before getting released the following month.

He never was elevated to the active roster, but it appears he still left a positive impression on the coaching staff.

Tonyan started his career with the Green Bay Packers and had a solid five-year run (2018-2022) with them. He posted 137 receptions for 1,437 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.

He ultimately tore his ACL in 2021 and was released by the team the year after.

He latched onto the Chicago Bears (2023) and Minnesota Vikings (2024) but didn’t last in either location.

At this point of his career, he’s a depth piece, and that’s totally fine with the Chiefs having tight end Travis Kelce return for another season.

Tonyan will get a chance to make the roster. Kansas City has Kelce, Noah Gray, Jared Wiley, and now Tonyan in that room.

That’s a solid collection of pass-catchers, but Tonyan has his work cut out for him in order to make the roster.

He has displayed the ability to be a good weapon in the red zone, and the 30-year-old will get the opportunity to showcase that he has gas left in the tank.
