KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs are continuing to bolster their roster for the upcoming season by extending a key defensive player.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, linebacker Nick Bolton and the Chiefs agreed to a three-year $45 million extension with $30 million guaranteed. The Mizzou product was drafted by the team in 2021 and will now remain in Missouri for at least three more years.

In 2024, Bolton made his presence felt on a stingy Chiefs defense that was known as one of the NFL’s best. He tallied three sacks, 73 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception, according to Pro Football Reference.

With defensive coordinator Steve Spagnoulo returning, along with other key defenders like Trent McDuffie and Chris Jones, extending Bolton should lead to another year of defensive prowess in Kansas City.

Bills, QB Josh Allen reach record-setting 6-year, $330 million extension

The Buffalo Bills paid their quarterback on Sunday afternoon.

The Bills agreed to a six-year, $330 million extension with Josh Allen on Sunday, the team announced. According to multiple media reports, the deal includes $250 million guaranteed, which is the largest guarantee ever given to an NFL player.

Allen had four years left on his current deal. He will now be with the team through the 2030 season.

Allen, who will carry an average annual value of $55 million per season, is now among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. Only Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, with an AAV of $60 million per season, averages more.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson had the previous guaranteed record with his $230 million deal. Only Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a deal worth more with his $450 million contract.

While the deal didn’t need to get done, it’s easy to see why the Bills moved to reward their quarterback after this past season. Allen, who won his first career MVP award, led the team to a fifth consecutive division title and back to the AFC championship game for the second time in the past five seasons. He’s thrown for more touchdowns than any QB in Bills history, and he threw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2024 with 12 rushing touchdowns. He is also the first player in league history to have at least 25 touchdown passes, 10 rushing touchdowns and throw fewer than 10 interceptions in a single season.

Allen, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, has more wins, total touchdowns and total yards by any quarterback in their first seven seasons in the league in NFL history.

The extension is the latest the Bills have done in recent days. The team also reached contract extensions with defensive end Gregory Rousseau, linebacker Terrell Bernard and wide receiver Khalil Shakir.

Though Allen has been incredibly dominant on the field, the team has yet to make it to the Super Bowl under his leadership. The team has never won a title, though it reached the game four straight times from 1990-93.

While that’s still going to be the benchmark for the franchise in the near future, the Bills are clearly banking on Allen getting them there.
