The Kansas City Chiefs entered the offseason with a vengeance, looking to get back to Super Bowl contention.

Kansas City has played in the Super Bowl in three straight seasons, having recently suffered a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

They capped off the season with a 17-3 record, including a 40-22 blowout loss to Philadelphia in Super Bowl LIX. As the Chiefs look to revamp their roster, they lost a key contributor.

Defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton is set to sign a three-year, $54 million deal with the Carolina Panthers, leaving Kansas City after five years with the organization.

After Wharton made his decision to leave the Chiefs, quarterback Patrick Mahomes took to social media, sharing his thoughts on the news.

He capped off the year with one forced fumble, 6.5 sacks and 29 tackles (regular season).

Wharton finished his five-year career with Kansas City, recording one interception, two fumble recoveries, three pass deflections, four forced fumbles, 13.5 sacks and 114 tackles.
