EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Reveals Major Role of $17 Million Acquisition

The Los Angeles Dodgers have an immense amount of talent around the diamond, but one area the front office focused on this offseason was the corner outfield spots.

In an effort to address this, they re-signed Teoscar Hernández after his heroic 2024 season with the team and added former All-Star Michael Conforto.

Dave Roberts noted that the Dodgers plan to use Conforto as their everyday left fielder, per The Orange County Register.

Moreover, there are no plans to have the veteran in a platoon role with other guys like Chris Taylor and Andy Pages, but now he will get at-bats every day, even against lefties.

Los Angeles have a history of reviving players’ careers or at least getting the best out of them while they’re on the roster.

Conforto hit 20 home runs in 130 games in 2024 with the San Francisco Giants, a historically tough ballpark for hitters.

Despite missing all of 2022 due to injury, Conforto has shown in every other season that he can stay on the field and be a productive hitter, especially against right-handed pitching.

According to Bleacher Report’s Opening Day lineup projection, Conforto is seventh in the Dodgers’ lineup, hitting behind Will Smith.

Conforto’s one-year, $17 million contract mirrors the scenario of last season’s “prove-it” deal with Hernández.

The Dodgers will hope for similar results from Conforto this season as they got from Hernández a year ago.
