Ingrid Michaelson is sharing a story about an interaction she had with Taylor Swift about five years ago.
Earlier this week, the 45-year-old singer-songwriter opened up about the time she ran into the pop superstar while attending an awards show in 2019. Michaelson initially claimed in the video that it was the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) that year, but after a little sleuthing, the picture “The Way I Am” artist shared in her TikTok “storytime” was taken at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.
“I was on the red carpet, like feeling myself,” she began, mimicking the paparazzi and photographers calling out for her attention. “Ingrid! Ingrid! Ingrid!”
“Then all of the sudden, it was like they were ushering me off [the carpet]…and I realized that Taylor Swift was coming. I look to my right, and there she is.”
Michaelson recalled how the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” songstress moved down the carpet, posing for countless photos before taking cover between some panels and her bodyguards.
But that’s not what was “so pathetic,” according to the artist, that came later when she proceeded to yell at the top of her lungs: “Taylor! It’s Ingrid!”
Luckily, that was enough to divert any amount of embarrassment Michaelson would have otherwise had to shake off, as it did grab Swift’s attention.
“She did turn around and remembered me,” Michaelson revealed.
“We took a picture,” she added with a smile.
Michaelson’s experience isn’t oh-so unique, as several other Hollywood stars and the lucky few average Joes who’ve interacted with the pop star have all said pretty much the same thing: She’s a delight!
