SHOCKING!! Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss Criticizes Anthony Davis’s Attitude One Month After Luka Trade

Anthony Davis

The NBA is still reeling from the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis and other assets to the Dallas Mavericks on Groundhog Day. The repercussions of that trade will be felt league-wide for years to come.

Most of the questions on why the trade happened are pointed at the Dallas Mavericks, as trading away a perennial first-team All-NBA player in their mid-20’s is pretty rare and nearly unprecedented. But, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss shed some light on why they were willing to part with Anthony Davis.

Davis was actually having a great season in Los Angeles this year. He was averaging nearly 26 points and 12 rebounds a contest.

The Lakers were a solid 28-19 when the trade was made, and were 8-2 in their last 10. But, the chance to acquire someone who would be a superstar for the next decade-plus when Davis is about to turn 32 was too hard to pass up.

Jeanie Buss, daughter of the late Jerry Buss and controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, was on NPR on Wednesday and had some pretty eye-opening comments about the trade and Anthony Davis.

“We have lost the last three years in a row to the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs, and we really didn’t have anything that was going to look different going into the playoffs again. Anthony Davis was complaining about where he was being played and he wasn’t happy. So I think this was a positive for both teams. They got what they were looking for; we got what we were looking for.”

Anthony Davis has long wanted to be a power forward instead of a center, the spot that the Lakers played him at. But, if it wasn’t for an incredible opportunity in terms of being able to trade for Luka, they wouldn’t have moved him, either.

It was just the right opportunity at the right time for the Lakers.

Davis, who has been very healthy in recent years, didn’t last a full game with the Mavs before reaggravating an abdomen injury.
