The Kansas City Chiefs are regrouping after their loss in Super Bowl LIX, with the NFL Scouting Combine in their rearview.
They are turning their attention to free agency.
The franchise tag on Pro Bowl offensive guard Trey Smith has raised more questions regarding the future of other starters, like running back Isiah Pacheco.
According to Spotrac, Pacheco has made $2,639,108 after his first three seasons in the NFL.
He has one year left on his rookie contract, and according to Tony Pauline from Sportskeeda, an extension might not be automatic, and negotiations could linger into training camp.
“An extension for running back Isiah Pacheco, who is in the final year of his rookie deal,” Pauline wrote. “won’t be considered until the season starts and the former seventh-round pick proves he’s back to health and prior form. “
Pacheco finished the 2024 regular season with 310 yards rushing and a touchdown in seven games.
He was hampered performance-wise in moments while recovering from injury as his carries continued to be split with Kareem Hunt.
