Current Kansas City Chiefs star and speedster Xavier Worthy set the NFL Combine record for the fastest 40-yard dash when he posted a lightning-fast 4.21-second record. Worthy’s speed led to the Chiefs trading up to select Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Fast forward to the 2025 NFL Combine, another Texas wide receiver was very vocal about his own speed. Isaiah Bond stated he would snap Worthy’s record during the 40-yard dash.
"I'm going to break the record tomorrow. For sure."

Bond stated, “I’m going to break the record … for sure.”
Bond ran on Saturday the NFL Combine, and posted a first run of 4.41. His second run saw the receiver hit a 4.40. He has an official time of 4.39.
Bond did not get close to Worthy’s record, and missed it by a while two seconds. The big miss led to Worthy reminding Bond about his speed.
There’s fast then there’s me.

Worthy took to X to state, “There’s fast then there’s me.”
Bond ran a very fast 40-yard dash, and no one can argue that at all. However, he failed to get close to the run that Worthy accomplished in 2024.

Bond’s 4.39 40-yard dash is good for fourth out of the receivers that ran on Saturday. Though he hoped to break Worthy’s record, he wasn’t even the fastest Texas receiver for the day.

Fellow Longhorns receiver Matthew Golden ran the fastest 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Combine, posting an official time of 4.29. He was 0.08 away from tying Worthy.
The promise to beat Worthy has led to a huge development. Receivers from Texas are fast. Worthy led the Combine in 2024, and two receivers from the school are in the top five for the 2025 Combine.
Bond spent two seasons with Alabama before transferring to Texas for the 2024 season. He secured 1,428 yards, and 10 touchdowns through three seasons in college.
Though Bond may not have run his way into being a first-round pick like Worthy, but he should be a probably second-round pick. He is a strong receiver who unsurprisingly shares similar traits to Worthy.
Bond might even join his teammate on the Chiefs if the team is aiming to bring in another speedy receiver in the draft.
