Manchester United Dealt Another Setback as Kobbie Mainoo’s Injury Timeline Revealed

Manchester United have suffered yet another injury blow, with Kobbie Mainoo set to be sidelined until at least the end of March. This latest setback further complicates Rúben Amorim’s efforts to turn around what has been a disastrous season for the club.

Mainoo’s Injury & Expected Return

The 19-year-old midfielder sustained a calf injury in training, ruling him out of United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday. Already struggling with an injury-ravaged squad, Amorim had just one senior player available on the bench for the match.

While the club has yet to provide an official recovery timeline, The Daily Star reports that Mainoo is unlikely to return until after the next international break. This means he could be out until April 1, when United face Nottingham Forest.

His absence also impacts England manager Thomas Tuchel, who will be without the young talent for World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia in March.

United’s Growing Injury Crisis

Mainoo joins a lengthy injury list that has left United severely depleted:

  • Amad Diallo – out for the season following ankle surgery
  • Lisandro Martínez – sidelined with a knee injury
  • Jonny Evans – struggling with a persistent back problem
  • Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Manuel Ugarte, and Christian Eriksen – all dealing with injuries or illness

The midfielder is set to miss crucial matches against Everton, Ipswich, Fulham, Arsenal, and Leicester, making United’s already dire situation even worse.

Despite his injury, Mainoo joined teammates Alejandro Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee, Ayden Heaven, and Manuel Ugarte for a team bonding session, where they played bowling, darts, shuffleboard, and table tennis before heading out for dinner.

Amorim Facing Mounting Pressure

United currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League, enduring their worst season in over 50 years. With the squad struggling for form and fitness, Amorim is under increasing pressure.

Following the Spurs defeat, he addressed the growing challenges:

“I have a lot of problems. My job is very difficult, but I’m committed to continuing and focusing on the next game. Our priority is keeping players fit, recovering those who are injured, and doing everything possible to finish the season on a positive note.”

With results declining and injuries piling up, United’s season is teetering on the edge, and Amorim must find answers fast.
