Patrick Mahomes Shows Off Drastic Appearance Change At College Basketball Game

Patrick Mahomes shook things up after the Super Bowl.

The Kansas City Chiefs fell short of a three-peat when Mahomes got sacked a career-high six times in a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes threw a pair of second-quarter interceptions in a Super Bowl 59 contest that quickly got out of hand. Maybe that loss sparked an appearance change.

On Monday night, Mahomes supported his alma mater by attending Texas Tech’s men’s basketball game with his wife, Brittany. Those who hadn’t already seen photos of his offseason haircut got a closer look when witnessing the star quarterback courtside at Lubbock.

Mahomes cut his signature mohawk for a shorter hairstyle. Here’s a look at the change:

Mahomes already had the haircut in a video he and Brittany shared two days earlier from their daughter’s fourth birthday party.

There was no mohawk as the three-time Super Bowl MVP played with his oldest of three children, Sterling Skye.

Perhaps Mahomes needed a change after the Feb. 9 shortcoming in New Orleans. Instead of making history as the first back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl champions, the 29-year-old will aim to rebound from his second Super Bowl loss.

“Any time you lose a Super Bowl, it’s the worst feeling in the world,” Mahomes told reporters after the game. “It’ll stick with you the rest of your career. These will be the two losses that will motivate me to be even better the rest of my career.

Or maybe his hair just got too long and difficult to upkeep. One would imagine it got especially messy under his helmet.

The bigger question is whether Mahomes will grow his mohawk back in time for the 2025 season. He’ll hope to first see the No. 10 Red Raiders take down the No. 4 Houston Cougars on Monday night.
