Taylor Swift is one of the biggest—if not the biggest—pop star of this generation, and fans have been calling for her to perform at the Super Bowl for years.
However, despite being offered the gig multiple times, she’s always turned it down.
And since she’s started dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, it looks like it’ll be even longer until she performs at half time, with new reports alleging she won’t take on the job until after Travis Kelce retires from football. Keep reading for more information.
Taylor Swift Turns Down Super Bowl Offer
Multiple times throughout her career, Taylor has turned down the offer to perform at half time.
Up until 2022, it was because Pepsi was the sponsor of Super Bowl halftime shows for many years, and Taylor is famously partnered with Coca-Cola. “If Pepsi wasn’t the sponsor of the halftime show for so many years, then Taylor Swift would have potentially already been the performer,” a source explained.
“But she has had a long-standing partnership with Coke and sponsorship with them, so that was one glaring reason she was never able to do it.”
And the past two years, Swift has been too busy with her own performing schedule—traveling internationally for her hugely successful Era’s Tour—that it just couldn’t work. And now, she’s with Travis Kelce, which brings an entirely new reason for turning down the gig.
Taylor Won’t Perform Until Travis Retires
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been dating for nearly two years now, and new reports are saying that Swift definitely won’t perform at a Super Bowl while Travis is still playing football.
“She doesn’t want to do it now until Travis is fully retired as she would like to be at the game supporting him rather than performing at it,” an insider told DailyMail.com.
“When she eventually performs at it, she wants all her loved ones to be able to experience it.
And as long as Travis is in the league, the Chiefs have a chance to be in the game, so she is going to wait do to it until he is officially done.”
While rumors of Travis retiring this year have been circulating, however, he’s allegedly “leaning more” towards playing another season than retiring.
