After dropping two straight against the Chicago Cubs, the Dodgers came two outs away from recording their first win of the spring, but ultimately dropped their third straight game by a final score of 11-10 against the Kansas City Royals.
Nick Frasso was given the nod for the Dodgers, making his first pitching appearance since undergoing shoulder surgery which completely wiped out his 2024 campaign.
Frasso needed just 14 pitches to complete a scoreless first inning, allowing a single baserunner via a Hyeseong Kim fielding error while striking out one.
In similar fashion as they did in their cactus opener, the Dodgers kicked off the scoring with two runs in the first inning, with Hunter Feduccia roping an opposite field two-run single.
After reliever Edgardo Henriquez allowed four Royals to reach base, Livan Reinoso came in to try to extinguish Kansas City’s rally, but Maikel Garcia gave the Royals the lead with a bases clearing, three-run triple.
The Dodgers quickly answered back in the bottom half of the second inning, as Max Muncy launched his first home run of the spring, a three-run shot to left-center field that tied the score at 5.
Hunter Feduccia had himself a game to remember, tallying three hits in three at-bats, including a two-run single to open the scoring and a towering three-run home run that gave him five RBIs on the day.
Outfield prospect Zyhir Hope was a mid-game substitution after the fifth inning, and he made his presence felt with an opposite field solo home run to give the Dodgers their tenth and final run of the game.
Old friend Cavan Biggio had two at-bats against his former team (both in the second inning), blooping a double to right field that ignited Kansas City’s five-run second inning and finishing the game going 1-2.
