The Golden State Warriors are off to a 4-1 start since Jimmy Butler has arrived to the Bay Area.
They made the swing of a trade at the deadline in hopes of building a playoff-caliber team around Stephen Curry one more time as his career is winding down.
While there was a swing-and-a-miss to land LeBron James and Kevin Durant, they were able to secure Butler, who had asked for a trade from the Miami Heat after growing disgruntled with the front office.
In Butler’s fifth game with Golden State, head coach Steve Kerr started him at the power forward spot, with Draymond Green playing small ball center.
The Warriors routed the Sacramento Kings 132-108 while Butler scored 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting, adding three rebounds, seven assists and three steals as a plus-19 in the box score.
It was a well-rounded effort from the Warriors in their recent win, though Butler’s tenure with Golden State is off to a solid start.
Butler makes Warriors history in recent victory
The Warriors, as mentioned, needed to make a deadline swing. Curry needed a co-star if the club was going to compete at any level in the postseason.
Since his arrival, Butler has done what no other player in Golden State history has. StatMamba on X revealed that Butler was the fastest player in club history to surpass 100 points, 25 rebounds and 25 assists.
“Jimmy Butler is the fastest player in Warriors franchise history to record: 100+ PTS 25+ REB 25+ AST,” StatMamba shared.
While the Warriors might want scoring from Butler at higher volume, a 4-1 record since his arrival speaks for itself.
Golden State now has a 29-27 record and jumped the Kings in the Western Conference standings, now sitting at the No. 9 seed.
Just two and a half games out of the No. 6 seed, the Warriors are staring at a massive opportunity.
