Aaron Judge Addresses Dodgers’ Trash Talk After Beating Yankees in World Series

Aaron Judge career timeline - MLB Stories

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in five games, and it was the final matchup that was the most humiliating for the New York Yankees. Despite having a 5-0 lead over L.A. in Game 5 of the Fall Classic, the Bronx Bombers fell apart in an unforgettable defensive debacle.

One of the Yankees’ worst moments featured the organization’s best and brightest star in Aaron Judge, who notoriously dropped a routine fly ball from utility man Tommy Edman.

There has been quite the controversy surrounding whether some L.A. players have taken the trash talk too far after winning the World Series. For example, utility man Chris Taylor didn’t mince words when he discussed the poor defense from the Yankees.

“We’re all kind of thinking it — (the Yankees) kind of (crapped) down their leg,” Taylor said.

Many individuals from the New York organization, including manager Aaron Boone, discussed the trash talk from L.A. players.

“They won,” Boone said on WFAN’s Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata Show. “They had that right. A couple of people like saying some things. It’s like, ‘See what you did this year?’ Like, it wasn’t the Freddie Freemans and Shoheis and Mookies popping off. It was some others. They won the World Series. We didn’t play our best, and they’re flying high right now, so we’ll try to get back to that stage and hopefully punch through.”

Yankees infielder Jon Berti also spoke on the Dodgers’ trash talk, despite being left off the World Series roster.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever heard a World Series-winning team talk as badly as they did about the World Series-losing team,” Berti said. “It felt like we were being disrespected to the point of we didn’t even belong in the World Series.

“We won a lot of games last year. We won our division. We went and took care of Kansas City and took care of Cleveland. So we deserved to be there, unfortunately, we didn’t perform at our best.”

“Unfortunately, we ran into a team that played better than us in a seven-game series and they deserved to win,” Berti added. “So I guess they can say whatever they want at this point.”

Now, the face of the franchise has spoken. Aaron Judge broke his silence on the Dodgers’ trash talk.

“They won, they can say whatever they want,’’ Judge said, via NorthJersey.com. “If you don’t like it, you’ve got to play better.’’

Although Judge’s fielding error was a topic of conversation following the World Series, he appears to have accepted the inevitable slander that follows a championship loss. It’s an impressive look from an impressive player.
