Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, has helped give the NFL a huge boost since her relationship with Kelce began in September 2023.
Swift has attended 23 Chiefs games since Week 3 of the 2023 season and has brought in $366.7 million in total brand value for the NFL from September 2023 to January 2024 via The Economic Times.
But the real spike came after the AFC championship when Swift’s presence raised the league’s value by another $634.3 million – a total of $1 billion.
The Grammy-winning artist has also attended each of the last two Super Bowls, and, unsurprisingly, the NFL broke viewership records in each game.
Swift has impacted Kelce’s jersey sales as well, which went up a staggering 400% when the couple began dating.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Dan Graziano revealed that the 2025 NFL salary cap will range between $277.5 million to $281.5 million, an increase of roughly $22.1 million to $26.1 million (≈ $25 million) from 2024’s $255.4 million.
The NFL today informed teams that the 2025 per-team salary cap will fall in the range of $277.5 million to $281.5 million, way up from last year’s $255.4 million.
Cap will have increased by more than $53 million over the last two years. — Dan Graziano (@DanGrazianoESPN) February 19, 2025 Given the above Taylor Swift effect, NFL fans were quick to credit the “Bad Blood” singer for the salary cap jump.
“Taylor Swift attending games is the reason why the salary cap got increased y’all are welcome,” one fan said.
“The 2025 NFL salary cap will be $277.5M-$281.5M An increase of $22.1M-$26.1M from last year and beat expectations.
Thank you Taylor Swift,” wrote a second.
“People hate Taylor when she attends games, but yet she’s the one who’s bringing all the revenue and is the reason why the Salary Cap is going way up,” added another. “Thank you @taylorswift13 for assisting in the $20-25 million dollar cap increase for the NFL next year,” posted a fourth.
“Unironically, Taylor Swift and KC played a role in getting the Salary Cap increase. You’re welcome NFL,” commented a fifth.
“Then that means Taylor Swift attending games is the reason prices will go up with a salary cap increase,” added a sixth.
Similar to the 2025 season, the NFL also increased the salary cap before the 2024 season. However, since 1994, there has been a jump in the salary cap nearly every year.
The last time it went down was for the 2021 season, the year following the COVID-19 season.
