The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off one of their worst losses in recent memory. It just so happens that it came in Super Bowl 59 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

It was the first time in two years that Kansas City wasn’t name world champions.

This prompted quarterback Patrick Mahomes to make a drastic change.

Following the Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles one week earlier, Kansas City’s quarterback, 29, changed up his appearance, ditching his signature mohawk for something more high and tight.

Mahomes’ curly hair was visible on social media on Monday, February 17, when a photo surfaced. The location of the photo is unclear:

According to a source at News Week:

For some, Mahomes’ haircut wasn’t a huge shock, given that he’d previously teased the idea. In February 2024, Mahomes appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, and said that he was ready to make a big change to his appearance.

“It’s gone this offseason I promise y’all,” Mahomes said. “I almost did it today and just came on today with it. I’ve got to do something.” As for why he did it, Mahomes said he simply couldn’t keep up with it anymore.

“I’ve got a 3-year-old at home. I can’t just keep the mohawk going. At least change it up a little bit,” he told McAfee at the time, referring to his daughter, Sterling, whom he shares with wife Brittany Mahomes. The NFL icon and Brittany, 29, are also the proud parents of son, Bronze, 2, and newborn daughter, Golden.
