The pitching rotation competition for the Los Angeles Dodgers is going to be intense, but that doesn’t mean there is hostility between teammates.
Newly added pitcher Blake Snell looks to help young starter Bobby Miller return to his rookie form.
In 2023, Miller had a remarkable first year in the Majors, posting an ERA of 3.76 and a record of 11-4 in 22 games.
Last season, Miller struggled significantly, finishing with an 8.52 ERA and a 2-4 record in 13 games. He lost confidence as he continued to struggle.
Two-time Cy Young Award winner and new Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell has taken on a team leadership role. Snell has been helping Miller overcome mental blocks and giving him the guidance to bounce back and become a top-tier pitcher.
Snell and Miller are frequently seen pitching together and discussing the game during the Dodgers’ Spring Training. Snell sought out Miller after joining his new team’s workouts.
Nothing can be done about Miller’s poor performance last season, but Snell has been helping his new teammate overcome physical and mental hurdles.
Miller knows he has a challenge to overcome to earn the fifth starting pitcher spot against a loaded rotation that includes Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Shohei Ohtani when he returns fully healthy.
Miller is young, but he is already on a good path to becoming a long-time starter for a championship-contending team.
He must earn back the trust of coaches, managers, and fans, but he already has the trust of his new elite teammate.
