The Kansas City Chiefs will have a lot of roster turnover this offseason and after coming off three straight Super Bowl appearances (winning two), the AFC champs are still seen as a “destination” franchise.
Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid have combined to be one of the best quarterback/head coach duos in football, and that is an enticing pair to work for.
With many of Mahomes’ receivers entering free agency, DeAndre Hopkins, Marquise Brown, and Juju Smith-Schuster could be elsewhere in 2025, leaving Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice as the go-to options.
But what if we add a third?
The 33rd Team’s Ian Valentine has predicted a host of landing spots for several free-agent receivers, and for the Chiefs, Keenan Allen comes to Arrowhead. ”
After Allen had spent 11 seasons facing Kansas City, the Chiefs could look to swap out one older receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, with another in Allen,” Valentino writes.
“Hopkins was a bust of an acquisition, and the uncertain future of Hollywood Brown and instability with Rashee Rice means the Chiefs need another body who can win from the slot at a reasonable price.”
Per Spotrac.com, Allen has a $11.1 APY market value, which could easily be massaged down if the veteran is chasing a ring. Thus, a move could be viable for general manager Brett Veach.
The other thing to look at is Allen’s production with rookie Caleb Williams last season and it’s his lowest since 2017…but it’s still solid.
Chiefs Super Bowl Window Remains Open Due to 4 Key Reasons Allen registered 744 yards and seven touchdowns from 70 receptions.
When putting that up against all of Kansas City’s attacking threats, Allen would be second behind Travis Kelce in yards (823) and receptions (97) and would lead the Chiefs in touchdowns with seven.
So there is still juice in the tank, and if Allen is indeed ring hunting, the Chiefs are as good a team as anybody to hitch your wagon to.
