Cowboys offense struggled in 2024 and the team could be aggressive in the offseason to fix it. They could target an elite receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb.

Cooper Kupp revealed on X that the Los Angeles Rams are seeking to trade him. Kupp, an All-Pro in 2021, has dealt with injuries and has a large cap hit.

The Rams are so desperate to trade him that they are willing to pay a chunk of his salary, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

That makes him a viable option for the Cowboys. The Athletic’s Jon Machota proposed this trade that would send Kupp to Dallas:

“Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones recently sounded like they could be willing to be more active in improving their roster beyond just the draft,” wrote Machota. “A No. 2 wide receiver is needed to play alongside CeeDee Lamb.

As long as Kupp is healthy, this could be a good fit in Brian Schottenheimer’s first season as head coach and offensive play caller. The fan base is certainly frustrated about the current state of the franchise. Apathy is setting in. Jerry Jones has proven that he enjoys making moves for wide receivers. This one could make sense to him.”

The last time the Cowboys traded for a star receiver was when they acquired Amari Cooper. The trade worked out well as Cooper and Lamb were among the best duos in the league.

The Cowboys haven’t found a player to fill Cooper’s void, but Kupp could be the one to do it. Kupp has missed 18 games in the last three seasons.

However, he was on pace to break 1,000 yards each of those years, showing he can still produce when healthy.

Kupp won Super Bowl MVP when the Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals. He has also won a triple crown. Pairing him with Lamb could create problems for opposing defenses.
