Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has had a legendary NBA career, racking up countless accolades and records. He’s a four-time NBA champion, four-time Finals MVP, four-time league MVP, a 21-time All-Star, and is atop the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, to ever play the game, his eventual retirement will mark the end of an era for basketball fans.
While James has given no indication as to when that day will come, even at 40 years old, he’s still playing at an elite level.
This season, the 2003 No. 1 overall pick is averaging 24.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game.
On Wednesday’s edition of ESPN’s “Get Up,” NBA insider Brian Windhorst discussed the Lakers’ current roster and how it stacks up with the rest of the league in terms of contending for a championship.
While doing so, he predicted that he doesn’t “think the end is near for LeBron James.” “I really like what the Lakers have on their roster,” Windhorst said. “I believe that they can add a big man over the summer, and I really like where they’re going to be going into next season.
And unlike other people, I don’t think the end is near for LeBron James. I think he’s got runway left. I think he can still be an All-NBA player next year.
And I see no reason why, they can’t be a year from now, a team that can be really hunting for that title.”

Trade deadline acquisition Luka Doncic and newly signed big man Alex Len-who joined the team after being bought out by the Sacramento Kings-are still getting in the rhythm of things.
As the season progresses, Los Angeles will have time to build better chemistry, and if everything clicks, they could become a serious threat in the West come playoff time.
For James, who hasn’t reached an NBA Finals since the 2019 season, the possibility of competing for another championship could extend his career a little longer than he originally anticipated, especially if the Lakers are a legitimate title contender over the next couple of years.
