The Chiefs are expected to hire Jackson State linebackers coach Chris Orr to the position of quality control coach, per Clarence Hill Jr. and Matt Zenitz.

The Kansas City Chiefs are hiring Chris Orr as a quality control coach, according to multiple reports Thursday.

Orr takes the step to the NFL after spending the 2024 season coaching linebackers at Jackson State. The former Wisconsin star joins a Chiefs staff looking to help the team regroup after its recent Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Among those in the Chiefs’ linebacker room is former Wisconsin star Leo Chenal, Orr’s teammate with the Badgers during the 2019 season.

Orr led the Badgers defense that year, starting all 14 games and recording 78 tackles, 14 for loss, 11 1/2 sacks, five pass deflections and two forced fumbles. Chenal, meanwhile, was a true freshman after joining the program as a three-star athlete. The Grantsburg, Wisconsin, native appeared in 11 games that season, tallying 20 total tackles, two for loss, one sack and a fumble recovery.

Chenal took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his reaction to the news that Orr was joining the Chiefs’ staff:

Orr went on to play one season with the Carolina Panthers (2020) before returning to Wisconsin as its director of player development in 2021. He left for a further playing opportunity in the USFL (2022-23) before entering the coaching ranks with Jackson State.

Orr comes from a football family. His father, Terry Orr, played tight end and was a two-time Super Bowl champion (1988, 1992) with the Washington Redskins. His brother, Zach Orr, is the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.
