Former Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney was arrested last week in Georgia over allegations that he strangled a woman, according to a TMZ report.
Toney was accused of putting his hand around a woman’s throat during a dispute on January 14. He allegedly squeezed “with enough force to cause her to be unable to breathe.” He allegedly also took the woman’s phone from her during the altercation to prevent the woman from calling 911, TMZ said.
Toney was jailed on Feb. 6 on one charge of aggravated assault and one charge of obstructing/harassing 911 calls. Toney’s bond was set at $25,000 on each count, the NY Post noted.
Toney was with the Chiefs in 2022 and 2023, scoring a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. He appeared in a total of 23 games for the Chiefs, including the playoffs.
He was with the Chiefs during the 2024 preseason but was cut after training camp. He spent one week with the Cleveland Browns and was cut from that team.
