Harrison Butker was left in a towel, searching for his clothes after the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX defeat when they were mistakenly taken from him.
The controversial Chiefs kicker didn’t even get a chance to attempt a single field goal in the Super Bowl as they were overpowered by the Philadelphia Eagles, resulting in a crushing defeat. After the match, Butker took a shower and prepared to leave the stadium as quickly as possible after their dreams of winning three consecutive Super Bowls were shattered…but he couldn’t find his suit.
It’s been suggested that Chiefs staff removed his suit, mistaking it for Patrick Mahomes’, who Butker usually sits next to in the locker room. It’s believed that Butker left in Chiefs training gear, ending what must have been a humiliating night for all those in Kansas City white as the Eagles celebrated a decisive win to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy.
The Chiefs were humiliated by the Eagles almost from the start, with Philadelphia moving the ball down the field effortlessly, while Mahomes managed just 40 yards of offense in the first half. Kansas City did manage to score 16 points in the final quarter with the game already lost, having failed to get into the Eagles’ redzone until deep into the third quarter of the game. Butker, who has regularly been amongst the highest scorers in the league as the Chiefs’ kicker, didn’t even attempt one kick in the game.

Despite Jalen Hurts outperforming Mahomes, the game was dominated by the opposition’s lines, with Philadelphia showcasing their strength at both ends. Hurts had ample time to throw in the pocket, while the Chiefs’ quarterback was under constant pressure from the Eagles’ defensive line, which registered six sacks and 16 pressures in the game.
Butker will be back with the Chiefs next season after signing a four-year extension last year, but many of their star players now face an uncertain future as the team needs to address multiple areas of their roster this offseason.
