Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is starting to heat up, and he continued that momentum on Monday night, leading the Warriors to a blowout victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. With the win, the Warriors improved to 27-26 on the season and 2-0 with newly acquired Jimmy Butler on the floor.
Curry finished the night with 38 points, six rebounds, and four assists, knocking down six three-pointers and shooting 50% from the field. With just two more games remaining before the All-Star break, the Warriors will face off against the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks on back-to-back nights this Wednesday and Thursday.
Despite his incredible performance, Curry joined elite company after surpassing 30 points against the Bucks. The Warriors announced that Curry has now joined LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Karl Malone as the only players 36 years of age or older with four consecutive 30-point games.
Curry and the Warriors have experienced their fair share of ups and downs this season, navigating unfamiliar territory with a roster that lacks the usual All-Star level talent, aside from Curry.
This made the acquisition of Jimmy Butler all the more crucial, and he’s played at a high level through his first two games alongside Curry and the rest of the Warriors roster.
This season, Curry is averaging 23.0 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 43.4% from the field. Although it hasn’t been the ideal start to the season, he remains an All-Star starter this weekend and has been on a tear recently, scoring 38, 34, 37, and 32 points in his last four games.
