Mavericks' Anthony Davis to Miss Multiple Weeks With Significant Injury - Newsweek

The newest superstar of the Dallas Mavericks, Anthony Davis, will reportedly miss significant time due to an injury suffered in his season debut with the team.

After being acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis makes his way to Dallas in exchange for Luka Doncic, among other assets in the deal.

Davis was on his way to giving Dallas fans something to cheer about after theirpublic outragefollowing the trade of Doncic which even included protests by fans outside the Mavericks’ arena.

In his exciting debut, the 10-time All-Star dropped 26 points, 16 monster rebounds, seven assists, and even three blocks on the Mavericks’ way to a 116-105 victory at home against the Houston Rockets. After 31 minutes of play, Davis suffered a non-contact injury and went down in the third quarter.

Most Mavericks fans had been bracing themselves for this potential reality given Davis’ injury history in the NBA, but the 31-year-old had been putting up extremely promising numbers in the 2024-25 campaign thus far.

Chiefs vs Eagles Expert Predictions for Super Bowl LIX Davis was averaging 25.7 points per game with the Lakers this season along with 12 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 2.2 blocks per contest.

The full details of his blockbuster even included the Utah Jazz, as they were brought along to make the money work for the large contracts.

The Mavericks received Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick, the Lakers got Doncic along with Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris, and the Utah Jazz ended up with Jalen Hood-Schifino from the Lakers, a 2025 second-round pick from the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Mavericks 2025 selection as well.

Davis and his 10 All-Star selections looks to spend quite some time in Dallas and build with the reigning Western Conference champions as they come off an NBA Finals loss to the Boston Celtics last season.

Pieces like Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, and many other assets on the Dallas squad will be waiting for Davis when he returns from injury, as the Mavericks look to return to make a major push to the NBA finals.

It will be quite a postseason endeavor as the Mavericks currently sit at the No. 8 seed in a stacked Western Conference with a record of 28-25.
