Donald Trump roasted Taylor Swift after she was booed by NFL fans at the Super Bowl LIX.
The President arrived at New Orleans’ Caesar’s Superdome to cheers on Sunday as he took his seat as the first sitting president to attend the finale.
Having previously backed the Kansas City Chiefs to win, the 78-year-old then made a hasty departure as his chosen team were dominated by 40-14 victors the Philadelphia Eagles.
But the President couldn’t resist the urge to have a pop at Swift, who was in the crowd to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump ruthlessly blasted the 35-year-old, sharing contrasting clips of his applause versus boos which emanated from the crowd when she was projected on stadium screens.
He also shared another user’s post with the caption: “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed,” while writing in a separate post: “The only one that had [sic] a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
Despite his claims, Swift was not forced to leave the stadium on account of the jeers. The two already have bad blood after the President previously posted that he “hated” the Fortnight singer, who publicly backed Kamala Harris in last year’s election.
Swift has previously not held back in her opinions of Trump, having previously backed Biden and Harris in 2020 and publicly criticising the then-incumbent President’s posts about Black Lives Matter protesters, accusing him of “stoking the fires of white supremacy your entire presidency”.
After she also endorsed Democrat Phil Bredesen in the Tennessee mid-terms in 2018, Trump at the time claimed he liked Swift’s music “25% less”. Swift was pictured alongside friends the Haim sisters and rapper Ice Spice at the stadium on Sunday.
Unsurprisingly, the All Too Well hitmaker did not follow Patrick Mahomes’ family’s steps as his mother, brother and sister were seen posing for photos with the President. Trump has previously shared his love of the Chiefs quarterback and his wife, telling FOX News: “I’ve watched this great quarterback, who’s got a phenomenal wife.
“She is a Trump fan and a MAGA fan, I happen to love her, she’s a great person.” In clips played ahed of the game, he also toldto the outlet: “I guess you have to say that when a quarterback wins as much as he’s won – I have to go with Kansas City. At the same time, Philadelphia is fantastic, it’s going to be just a great game.”
His comments came after the Eagles previously snubbed the President, refusing to attend Trump’s White House back in 2018 after their Super Bowl win that year.
