After agreeing to trade Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors prior to the deadline, the Miami Heat’s return is now officially official. The package was headlined by former All-Star, NBA Champion and two-way talent Andrew Wiggins. Additionally, they received elite point-of-attack defender Davion Mitchell, 3 and D Kyle Anderson and a 2025 first-round draft pick.
The Heat made a move that made them younger, more athletic and brought length. All three things that this team has lacked over the years.
On Sunday morning, all three players were introduced in a press conference alongside Pat Riley and coach Erik Spoelstra. The vibes seemed high with the feel of freshness in the atmosphere, as the Heat newcomer’s are ready to get to work.
When asked about his thoughts on the acquisitions, team president Pat Riley displayed plenty of optimism to the media:
“They are now officially part of what we do believe in, which is our culture here with the Heat. And we believe they are perfect players to be part of that. I think they’ll show it.”

Wiggins is listed at 6-foot-7 with a 7-foot wingspan. His game will slot right into the starting lineup alongside Bam Adebayo and Kel’el Ware— providing some elite size and skill in the frontcourt. The talented forward has averaged 17.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 stocks on nearly 45% shooting and 38% from deep.
He is now the most efficient catch-and-shoot option on the Heat roster. Wiggins has gone for 41% on those attempts this season.
Miami has struggled to find consistency all season long, both on and off the court, for obvious reasons. But with a revamped lineup that is leaning back to a more defensive identity, the Heat remain in the thick of a playoff push. They are sitting at the Eastern Conference’s seventh seed, tied for sixth, and are just 2.0 games behind the fifth seed Milwaukee Bucks.
Wiggins, Mitchell and Anderson went through their first Heat practice on Sunday. They are expected to make their debut on Monday night inside the Kaseya Center against the rival Boston Celtics.
