Travis Kelce is a bona fide Super Bowl veteran. Super Bowl LIX on Sunday will be the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s fifth time in the big game in the last six years.
At this point, it’s safe to say that Kelce has already gotten used to the bright lights on the biggest stage of them all. In a recent interview with Laura Okmin of Westwood One Sports, Kelce opened up about a much different but perhaps equally massive stage he has been in.
This was during the London leg of his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert when Kelce literally went up the stage in a cameo performance during the show.
Kelce described the moment as “definitely the most shocking” stage he’s ever been on, but continues to have fond memories of the unforgettable experience.
In the same interview, the All-Pro TE was asked to compare how different it is to lock in on the Super Bowl and on a performance on the “Eras Tour.” Kelce acknowledged that they’re not completely different. “I feel like there’s similarities,” he said. “I was up there with my guy Kam and Jan (Swift’s dancers) and obviously, Taylor.
There was that team aspect. That, ‘Alright, we’re here together. I’m not up here all by myself.’ There was that team feeling. There was some camaraderie and some chemistry up there.
But for the most part, the big difference is I’m in a football uniform and a helmet (in the Super Bowl). I got a completely different game plan than just going out there and having fun.” There’s no doubt that Kelce will have a bit of fun on Sunday, too, but there’s also no denying that the stakes will be much higher.
On the line for the Chiefs is an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat that has never been done in the history of the game. Standing in their way, however, are the Philadelphia Eagles, who will surely do everything in their power to upset the odds.
Swift will be one of the tens of thousands of fans who will be cheering on Kelce and the Chiefs at Caesars Superdome on Sunday in what could be a historic night.
