RUMORS TRADE: Ex-Dodgers 3.10 ERA Starter Predicted to Sign With Atlanta Braves

As Spring Training approaches, many MLB free agents are trying to find a new home. Surprisingly, there are still some high-quality players who have yet to sign with a new team.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have multiple former players on the market, including Andrew Heaney.

Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report believes he found Heaney’s next home. Heaney was ranked as the fourth-best name on Miller’s board and was predicted to sign with the Atlanta Braves.

“Heaney’s not an ace, but he could be a solid No. 2/3 starter in a lot of rotations…

With Jack Flaherty finally off the board, the only pitcher who ranks higher than Heaney is one with the added complication of draft pick compensation tied to a qualifying offer,” Miller wrote.

“So, who has the greatest 11th-hour need for a starting pitcher? Probably the Atlanta Braves, right?”

Heaney had a solid campaign for the Dodgers in 2022, posting a 3.10 ERA in 16 starts.

While he isn’t necessarily an ace, Heaney could log multiple innings in the back of a team’s rotation.

Since 2022, he has logged 400 innings and could be a valuable pickup for a team like the Braves, who have lost durability in their rotation already with the departures of Max Fried and Charlie Morton.

As pitchers and catchers report in less than a week, Heaney is an interesting name to follow.

At this point in free agency, with former Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty signing back with the Tigers, the pitching front is getting thin, but many squads are still looking to add depth to their rotation, and Heaney could be a quality option.
