Kyrie Irving is now leading the Dallas Mavericks, but he was front and center of the Boston Celtics just a few years ago.

He was with the Celtics for two years, and he had a special dream team in mind during that time.

Speaking with Tim Bontemps, Irving revealed that he wanted Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis to team up with him and Jayson Tatum in Boston.

“It was a dream for Kyrie, AD, KD to be on one team and still keep JT and let him grow and then see how it goes,” Irving said, via NBACentral.

Irving never got his wish, but he may get something close to it soon.

Over the last few days, there have been rumors of Kevin Durant moving to the Dallas Mavericks.

He would go a long way to improving the team in the post-Luka Doncic era and could work really well alongside Irving.

The idea of Durant, Irving, and Anthony Davis may have seemed far-fetched a long time ago but it might become reality soon.

During his two seasons with the Celtics, Irving averaged 24.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.

He had a conflicted relationship with the team, and things eventually ended badly.

Irving is not well-regarded by Boston fans, but everything could have been different had Durant and Davis joined him.

That would have made the Celtics a nearly unstoppable force, but it also could have gotten in the way of the success they have now.

In the end, Irving left the Celtics and traveled to the Brooklyn Nets before the Mavericks.

It seems like things worked out well for everyone involved.
